Peels

Chemical peels are a phenomenal, non-invasive treatment for reversing the aging process, restoring blemished, unevenly pigmented, and wrinkled skin to a beautiful, clear state.  To learn more about how chemical peels can improve the quality of your skin, call Gotham Beauty at 212-960-8172 and schedule your appointment with our doctors.

This treatment is performed by applying chemicals that will peel away the top layer of skin, triggering a healing process that causes new cells to form.  The result is brighter, smoother, and tighter skin.  Chemical peels typically take about 15 minutes to complete, and are repeated at intervals to produce optimal results.  This procedure has little to no downtime, and can be used to treat both the face and the back.

Gotham Beauty offers several types of chemical peels to meet your needs.

VI Peel

The VI Peel is all the talk in Hollywood, and is one of the most popular treatments at our office.  VI Peel is a proprietary formula developed to safely and effectively treat all skin types for hyperpigmentation resulting from acne, melasma, and sun damage.  This treatment is a blend of TCA, salicylic acid, retinoic acid, phenol, and vitamin C.  You can expect to see brighter, clearer, and more even skin after just one treatment.  Most patients who choose the VI Peel treatment require 2-3 treatment sessions, performed at 2-4 week intervals.  We may change the amount and frequency of your session depending on the condition of your skin.

Custom Peels

  • Alphahydroxy Acids (AHA Peel) – AHA peels are excellent for dry, rough skin or skin that has superficial sun damage. AHA peels are often used to treat active acne and can be used prior to a TCA peel.  We usually administer AHA peels in a series.
  • Trichloracetic Acid (TCA Peel) – TCA peels are a great option for targeting fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and hyperpigmentation. This treatment takes only 15 minutes, and the peel depth can be adjusted to the intensity you desire.  TCA peels are an excellent choice for our patients with a darker complexion, and heal much more quickly than Phenol peels.
  • Phenol Peel – Phenol peels are an optimal treatment for removing skin discolorations resulting from sun damage, birth control pills, and aging. Phenol peels can even be used to target pre-cancerous growths!  This type of peel is a good option for patients with fairer skin.  The procedure lasts for a minimum of 1 hour, and has a more extensive healing protocol, which we plan ahead for with our patients during the consultation phase of this service.
